Orkut is among the 15 top social networks that exist online. Google claim Orkut is a failure, because unlike it's search engine which is the worldwide number 1 , Orkut is just another "medicore quality product".

Error Message "Orkut is Banned You Fool"

Have you got this message that Orkut has banned you and you are left wondering what wrong you have done for Orkut to ban you.

The fact is that Orkut has not banned you..but the virus in your system is preventing you from accessing Orkut. Actually W32/AHKHeap has attacked your system. You will find a folder Heap C created in your system. The virus registers itself in the registry and automatically starts when you boot the system. The main source of this virus is removable disk.

Solution

Press Ctrl+Atl+Delete and the task manager will appear as below.

Try and locate svchost.exe. The chances are that there will be many scvhost. exe. The culprit here is the who's user name is the login name of the computer. Select the once which has your login name and end the process. This will help you temporarily disabling the virus.

Now learn how to kill the culprit permanantly. Click on Start and then on Run command. Type C:\heap41a.

Heap41a is a hidden folder and not visible. So press Crtl+a and then press Shift+del. The Click of start and then select run. Type Regedit and press Enter. This will open the registry. Press Ctrl+f and search for Heap41a. Your search result will look something like this -

“[winlogon] C:\heap41a\svchost.exe” and “C:\heap(some number)\std.txt”

Select both the results and delete. Close the registry.

Your computer is free from this deadly Orkut Virus.

Regain Lost Ownership of Your Site

How many of you guys have "Lost Community Ownership" by accidently deleting your profile.

First thing don't accidently delete your profile....now to the solution.

Immediately create a new profile. It takes about 4-7 days for you to become the member of any community.

Once you become the member of the community, become the moderator of the forum.

Once you become the moderator then you can enable the site owner icon to become the community owner.

Saving Your Scrap

Many times a friend may scrap you and you find out that whoever tries to scrap you after that scarp automatically logs out.

Turns out that the Friend was actually was a foe who wants to "Kill Your ScrapBook"


You can solve the above problem by installing the firefox plugin "Flash Block". Once you install the plugin you can easily identify the person who has scrapped your scrapbook.

Delete his comment..now your friends will not have problem scrapping your scrapbook.

Email ID Bug

I thought the email bug was fixed by Orkut..but sorry (happy for some) to tell you the bug still exist.

Here is how you can get the e-mail id of a person who has a Orkut profile

1. Start with selecting the profile whos e-mail id you want to know
2. Send the person a friend request
3. Check out friends section and you will find the persons profile will be shown as waiting for approval.
4. If you look on the right hand side you will find the head Manage Contact. In that select Export Contact
5. Now enter the Captcha.

If you dont have any further need for the person remove his/her profile from your friends list.

Trying to access Orkut using Mac..Try Again

Guys if you are trying to access Orkut using Mac operating system ans Internet Explorer browser

well this is not possible.

If you are using Mac then try using Firefox, Netscape or Safari.

Those of you who are still very stubborn on using Internet Explorer with Mac will get an error messaage asking them to enable cookies....or some other error.

So be a good boy and use Firefox, Netscape or Safari when you have Mac operating system.

Orkut targetted by phishing links

As the growing popularity of orkut is results in lot no of phishing links spreading across the orkut.com

the most phishing links uses the major free hosting sites like

2. bravehost.com
3. freehostia.com
4. zzl.org
5. even the googlepages.com it self !!!

Those phishing links senders will create the orkut login look alike pages and send these links to targetted users (such as major community owners , mods ) those busy mods , owners will think these links to any of their community topic and rush into those links thinking to solve users problem quickly !!!

after entering their orkut user login details in that link they wont notice any things but they will lose their communities !!!

Google Stoped investigation on hijacked communities

The google is gave a big shock to all community owners who lost their communities due to phishing or some other ways of hijaking !!!

Grabbing ownership from a owner less community

is he did any phishing or hijaking ? no

All he did is, he joined those communities which are owner less (means the owner's profile deleted from the owner it self or may be from orkut ) but the community becomes owner less.

After the joining of that community any member who is one week old in that community is eligible to become moderator and owner !!!

So what are you waiting for go join the communities which are ownerless and who knows you can become the owner of big communities by luck

Add friends as much as u can !!!

when orkut formed the orkut user have the ability to add freinds to his list as much as he can !!!
i have seen a guy named rato eminem who has 22K+ freinds

but this leads lot of spam.

and later the orkut team removed this option by restriction the freinds to 1000.

still you might have seen profiles having 1000+ freinds
well they used to exploit a bug in add freind request.

as they cant add the freinds but they can invite the freinds
once they try to send invitation to join orkut and orkut detects the user already in orkut network it asks user already in orkut are you trying to add as friend ? and you can add him as the freind

email disclosure in orkut

a spammer joining on orkut can get the email ids of orkut users in a variety of ways

1. Join orkut
2. Add freinds which he may seen in any communities !!!
3. now in freinds link on his profile he can see all email ids :(

Have u received any script from any one including freinds ?

if u blindly use that script u may land up in a big trouble

when u run the script u may get some funy message or nothing

but they can steal your cookie details by sending cookies to thier scrap books !!
